UpCycling: Semi-supervised 3D Object Detection without Sharing Raw-level Unlabeled Scenes

Semi-supervised Learning (SSL) has received increasing attention in autonomous driving to reduce the enormous burden of 3D annotation. In this paper, we propose UpCycling, a novel SSL framework for 3D object detection with zero additional raw-level point cloud: learning from unlabeled de-identified intermediate features (i.e., smashed data) to preserve privacy. Since these intermediate features are naturally produced by the inference pipeline, no additional computation is required on autonomous vehicles. However, generating effective consistency loss for unlabeled feature-level scene turns out to be a critical challenge. The latest SSL frameworks for 3D object detection that enforce consistency regularization between different augmentations of an unlabeled raw-point scene become detrimental when applied to intermediate features. To solve the problem, we introduce a novel combination of hybrid pseudo labels and feature-level Ground Truth sampling (F-GT), which safely augments unlabeled multi-type 3D scene features and provides high-quality supervision. We implement UpCycling on two representative 3D object detection models: SECOND-IoU and PV-RCNN. Experiments on widely-used datasets (Waymo, KITTI, and Lyft) verify that UpCycling outperforms other augmentation methods applied at the feature level. In addition, while preserving privacy, UpCycling performs better or comparably to the state-of-the-art methods that utilize raw-level unlabeled data in both domain adaptation and partial-label scenarios.

So-Fake: Benchmarking and Explaining Social Media Image Forgery Detection

Recent advances in AI-powered generative models have enabled the creation of increasingly realistic synthetic images, posing significant risks to information integrity and public trust on social media platforms. While robust detection frameworks and diverse, large-scale datasets are essential to mitigate these risks, existing academic efforts remain limited in scope: current datasets lack the diversity, scale, and realism required for social media contexts, while detection methods struggle with generalization to unseen generative technologies. To bridge this gap, we introduce So-Fake-Set, a comprehensive social media-oriented dataset with over 2 million high-quality images, diverse generative sources, and photorealistic imagery synthesized using 35 state-of-the-art generative models. To rigorously evaluate cross-domain robustness, we establish a novel and large-scale (100K) out-of-domain benchmark (So-Fake-OOD) featuring synthetic imagery from commercial models explicitly excluded from the training distribution, creating a realistic testbed for evaluating real-world performance. Leveraging these resources, we present So-Fake-R1, an advanced vision-language framework that employs reinforcement learning for highly accurate forgery detection, precise localization, and explainable inference through interpretable visual rationales. Extensive experiments show that So-Fake-R1 outperforms the second-best method, with a 1.3% gain in detection accuracy and a 4.5% increase in localization IoU. By integrating a scalable dataset, a challenging OOD benchmark, and an advanced detection framework, this work establishes a new foundation for social media-centric forgery detection research. The code, models, and datasets will be released publicly.

HiERO-StepG @ Ego4D Step Grounding Challenge: hierarchical activity understanding enables zero-shot step grounding

Procedural activities follow well-defined structures: whether we consider a cooking recipe or a mechanic repairing a car, these activities naturally decompose in a hierarchy of steps and sub-steps. Traditional approaches for step grounding require extensive annotations and scale poorly. Instead, we argue that such hierarchical structure can emerge naturally from uncurated videos of human activities through recurring patterns of co-occurring actions and activities. Our approach builds on HiERO, a weakly-supervised representation learning approach that maps close in the feature space actions that are functionally related to each other, leveraging only fine-grained action-level narrations. In this feature space, procedure steps can be detected by a simple clustering, with no additional task-specific fine-tuning. For the Ego4D Step Grounding challenge, we augment this approach by ensuring fine and coarse level agreement in step assignments, enforcing strict temporal monotonicity of the grounded steps and post-processing the detected steps to reduce the impact of noisy predictions. We call this approach HiERO-StepG and it achieves 56.27 % on the R@1 (IoU = 0.3) metric on the global leaderboard at submission time, ranking second while being completely zero-shot and not requiring procedure-specific annotations. OpenSDI: Spotting Diffusion-Generated Images in the Open World

This paper identifies OpenSDI, a challenge for spotting diffusion-generated images in open-world settings. In response to this challenge, we define a new benchmark, the OpenSDI dataset (OpenSDID), which stands out from existing datasets due to its diverse use of large vision-language models that simulate open-world diffusion-based manipulations. Another outstanding feature of OpenSDID is its inclusion of both detection and localization tasks for images manipulated globally and locally by diffusion models. To address the OpenSDI challenge, we propose a Synergizing Pretrained Models (SPM) scheme to build up a mixture of foundation models. This approach exploits a collaboration mechanism with multiple pretrained foundation models to enhance generalization in the OpenSDI context, moving beyond traditional training by synergizing multiple pretrained models through prompting and attending strategies. Building on this scheme, we introduce MaskCLIP, an SPM-based model that aligns Contrastive Language-Image Pre-Training (CLIP) with Masked Autoencoder (MAE). Extensive evaluations on OpenSDID show that MaskCLIP significantly outperforms current state-of-the-art methods for the OpenSDI challenge, achieving remarkable relative improvements of 14.23% in IoU (14.11% in F1) and 2.05% in accuracy (2.38% in F1) compared to the second-best model in localization and detection tasks, respectively. Our dataset and code are available at https://github.com/iamwangyabin/OpenSDI.

SceneReGen: Generative Reconstruction of 3D Scenes from a Single Image

Single-image 3D scene reconstruction must complete partially observed objects and place them coherently in a shared observation-aligned scene frame. Object-level generative priors offer strong completion ability, but their centered, scale-normalized outputs are typically expressed in an object frame, creating a fundamental representation gap between object generation and scene reconstruction. We introduce SceneReGen, a generative reconstruction framework that reinterprets scene reconstruction as the generation and assembly of complete object assets in a shared observation-aligned scene frame. SceneReGen addresses the generation-reconstruction gap through selective pose factorization: each object's observed orientation is encoded directly in the generated mesh, while translation and scale are estimated from instance-level and global scene evidence. Given a scene image and instance masks, a geometry encoder extracts dense cues; learnable shape queries condition a pretrained DiT-based 3D generator to produce complete meshes in their observed orientations, while position queries fuse object and scene features to assemble them in the shared frame. On the 3D-FUTURE evaluation subset, SceneReGen achieves the best scene-level CD, scene-level F-Score, and 3D bounding-box IoU among the evaluated methods, ties the best object-level CD, and ranks second in object-level F-Score. Qualitative outputs in autonomous-driving and embodied-AI scenes further illustrate the potential of asset-centric reconstruction beyond indoor furniture.
